About the course:
Learn to throw with porcelain or improve your skills with a two person, throwing course at my studio. The six-week course with only two students is held on Thursday afternoons. It is suitable for those with a little throwing experience who would like to do more or or those who would like to try throwing with porcelain. The sessions can be tailored to your needs, focusing on what you would like to work on, but can include getting to grips with centring on the wheel, throwing cups, bowls and jugs, improving your techniques, turning/trimming vessels and adding handles.
The sessions are designed to be suitable for any level, including those new to porcelain, those wanting to explore ideas and processes, or for those wishing to improve their existing skills.
Resources:
The sessions include clay for throwing, professional throwing tools and equipment, tea and biscuits, and full tuition from me. I have two Shimpo wheels and have ‘Audrey Blackman’ porcelain and a white stoneware clay available to use. You can choose up to 12 finished pieces from the course to be glazed and fired by me using simple slips and glazes in use at the studio. Additional pieces can be fired on request for a small additional cost. Finished pieces can be collected 6-8 weeks after the workshop date.

The price is:
£450 each (Note: this price is for new bookings taken after July 2024)
For six sessions (two and a half hours per session), with two participants, where you will have a wheel each and I will work with you both to improve your throwing skills.

The sessions will be at my studio in Ditchling Common. The studio is less than 5 minutes drive from Burgess Hill or Ditchling, and there is free parking on site.
Cancellation policy:
If you need to cancel, cancellation fees are necessary as it is rarely possible for me to fill the space at short notice.
