Commissioning Work

Commissioning a piece from me allows you to be part of the design process and have a piece made that is unique to you.

I have a small number of pieces available to buy through my online shop at various points during the year. But if you have something specific in mind or would like something special made for you, then commissioning a piece is the ideal option.

Elaine can make wall pieces or vessels that incorporate ideas and forms that are meaningful to you, such as pieces inspired by plants in your garden, or in colours and sizes to suit a particular room.

You can commission new work from me at any time. Contact me by email, or see examples of wall pieces you can commission via my online shop.

Here are a few things to bear in mind:

  • The commissioning process involves discussion between you and the maker, allowing your ideas to be incorporated whilst retaining the distinctive style of work that Elaine is known for.
  • Each piece that Elaine makes is unique. If you’ve seen something you like in Elaine’s past work and would like another one made, whilst some ideas can be repeated, there will be variations in the one that’s made for you – every one is different.
  • Once a commission is agreed, there will be opportunities for you to review the ideas at key stages along the way.
  • Commissions typically take up to 10 weeks to completion, depending on the complexity of the piece and any changes requested. Some times of the year are busier than others and there is sometimes a waiting list, so please allow time if you are working towards a particular deadline.
  • A deposit (10-15%) is usually required at the start of the commission with the full payment made once you are happy with the work.
  • Depending on the location, and especially if you are based in the South East of England, Elaine may be able to deliver and hang the work for you. Commissioned pieces can also be safely posted to you.
  • Work can be commissioned and posted to locations outside the UK and past work has been sent to locations around the world, including the USA, Europe and Australia. Note that if you are commissioning from outside the UK, postage costs for framed pieces can add additional cost, please contact me to discuss delivery options.
