The piece is made from creamy white porcelain thrown on the potter’s wheel. The vessel is high-fired and left unglazed giving it a soft finish. A carved beech twig has been added to the top and tiny ‘wild bilberries’ in coloured porcelain, along with other additions are attached – creating a small world to peer into.
The work is inspired by the colours and tones of the Sussex landscape where the flint and chalk fields of the South Downs provide a distinctive backdrop.
